after unearthing that video where clay aiken does justin timberlake’s sexy back, i have discovered other covers. take for instance:
mandy moore doing a mellow version of rihanna’s umbrella. i’m liking it!
switchfoot on their take of beyonce’s crazy in love. it’s "power-packed with energy and bling."
travis on baby, one more time. edgier. who would’ve thought a poppy song could be dark, haunting, and way cool?
alanis on bep’s my humps supposedly released last april fools’ day. (hi mae!)
there’s a new album coming out on sept 4 called Guilt By Association, "a new album where indie artists have recorded their favorite guilty-pleasure songs. The tracklisting includes Petra Haden’s version of Journey’s Don’t Stop Believin’, Luna’s take on Paula Abdul’s Straight Up and Superchunk’s rendition of Say My Name by Destiny’s Child." you can listen to a samples of the album here. my opinion: i’m sticking to the original.
