for my LB peeps
Pancit Canton is a blog I discovered a month ago. It was written by Jaemarck Tordecilla, a UPLB student (at that time). I stumbled upon his blog on everything LB called Some Kind of Wonderful. LB people will agree with these 100%.
There are a million reasons why LB rocks. And we’re not just talking about the school (although, UPLB has been recently ranked #2 in the Philippines; UP Diliman is #1. Wala lang.). Jaemarck enumerates the cool things LB people take for granted.
- We still segregate here.
- Traffic rules are enforced. Sure, there would be one or two mavericks you would encounter, but overall, they’re fine. And you get to know the jeepney drivers, too. Libre pamasahe.
- By the way, notice the mala-guardia civil uniforms our traffic enforcers don on special occasions and/on Sundays (I think)?
- Walking is cool.
- Gimmick on a tight budget is cool.
- Pambahay, Hippie, Tibak, Bo-bo fashion, whatever - cool.
- Eccentricity is hot.
- Cheap thrills are cool.
- The scenery that greets me from the Calamba-LB border is so cool, I’ve fallen in love with it.
- Tambay or even driving around is cool. You almost always come across someone you know. (beep-beep!)
- The people are smart, disciplined, down-to-earth, and funny (in however way possible).
I really like that part where he says that LB peeps are more attached to LB than other people from other schools. It’s true. I’ve noticed that.
I’ve been out of LB, but I still love coming back to this place.
