bores

I think it was Jessica Zafra who said (not in verbatim) that the worst bores are those who think that every aspect of their life is worth hearing.

What’s torture to me is a bore who wants everyone to believe that they are busy. To them, it means they’re worth something, or are important. When they say it with a tone that insinuates that "you’re nothing," I’m convinced that inviting them anywhere or offering them anything at any time would be futile. While it may be true that they are busy, having them say that everyday for the past 5 years or so without anyone asking is quite annoying & atypical. Ironically, I know Resident Physicians, Interns, and Clerks with extremely toxic schedules (bordering on inhumane) who never say they’re too busy. Instead, we say we’re going to find time to do other things. It all boils down to time management. If you are too busy, it’s only natural that you look forward to a sane activity. Something to keep you grounded. And so when someone snaps at me repeatedly that they’re too busy, I automatically think that they don’t like me. However, I am more convinced that they are insecure or have some kind of undiagnosed neurosis.
